The Centre |
|
Greyfriars Oxford is a newly established Centre for Franciscan and Humanist Studies. It aims to provide a common ground for scholars and people with shared interests in understanding, documenting, and interpreting the intellectual history of Franciscan theology. It also aims to advance education in humanist studies through public programmes, including lectures, seminars, exhibitions, workshops and conferences. Equally, it supports special courses initiated by the University of Oxford and related to the work and aims of the Centre.
The Library, housed in the Capuchin friary on Iffley Road, is an integral part of the Oxford University System of Libraries. Its collections of highly specialised books and periodicals related to Franciscan studies, are widely available to members of the University of Oxford, members of the Order of the Capuchin Friars Minor and scholars worldwide.
The activities and scholarly resources of the Centre provide a unique open environment for research, critical inquiry, and debate. |
